Before deciding what your gates should look like, we look at how the entrance needs to work. Where will your car wait? Is there space behind the gates, or beside the opening? Will pedestrians need a separate way in?
Southampton has both compact city frontages and wider private driveways. We survey your property rather than choosing a gate arrangement from the neighbourhood alone. Opening width, driveway slope, parking, boundary positions and access to power all inform the recommendation.
Bring photographs and ideas to the conversation. We will help turn them into a design brief that fits the actual entrance.

Plan the opening before the appearance
The right arrangement leaves room for the gate, vehicles and people—not just the entrance itself.
Space behind the entrance
Swing gates need a clear opening arc. We check the slope, parked vehicles, walls and pedestrian routes before recommending hinge and motor positions.
Space beside the entrance
Sliding gates need room to travel along the boundary. Track and cantilever arrangements have different support requirements, which we assess against the ground and layout.
Keep what is suitable
If you already have gates, we can inspect the construction, posts and hinges for automation suitability. A new motor is not a substitute for a gate that moves correctly.
Made to measure means more than the width
We design and manufacture gates around the entrance. The proportions, construction and finish are agreed alongside the practical requirements, rather than treated as separate decisions.
Proportions & privacy
Discuss gate height, the balance between open detailing and privacy, and how the gate sits against the posts and frontage. A design should suit both the opening and the home behind it.
Materials & finish
Our steel gates are made to suit the agreed design. We discuss the construction, pattern and finish with you before manufacture, considering the gate's weight and intended operation.
Posts & pedestrian access
Gate posts, a separate pedestrian gate and the surrounding boundary need to work together. We check where people will walk and how visitors will reach the entry controls.
Built with automation in mind
Hinges, motor mounting points and gate movement are considered during design. The appearance of the gate and the equipment that operates it need to work as one system.

Bespoke electric gates with access that suits you
Decide who needs to enter and how: household members, visitors, deliveries or someone arriving on foot. Remotes, keypads and intercoms offer different ways to control access; a GSM intercom can let you answer and release the gate from your phone.
We check where the controls can be reached, how vehicles leave and where power can be supplied. Automation is specified for the gate and its use, with appropriate safety equipment—not selected on appearance alone.
One team, from design to daily use
01 / Survey
Measure the entrance, discuss your priorities and assess access, levels, ground conditions and power.
02 / Agree the design
Confirm the gate arrangement, appearance, construction, finish and access controls, with a quotation for the agreed work.
03 / Make & install
Manufacture the gates, fit the equipment and set up the controls and safety devices for the entrance.
04 / Safe handover
Fully risk assessed before handover, with force testing, safety checks and guidance on operating the gates.
Your handover includes operating and maintenance information and force-testing readings. We recommend professional servicing at least every six months to keep the gate and its safety equipment checked.

Planning your bespoke driveway gates
What should I send before the site survey?
Photographs of the opening, the driveway behind it and the boundary on both sides are useful. Include any existing gates or posts, and tell us whether you want new gates, automation or both. We confirm the measurements and suitability on site.
Can electric gates work on a short or sloping driveway?
They may, but the layout determines the options. Swing gates need a clear opening arc; sliding gates need room to one side. Ground levels, vehicle waiting space and support requirements must be checked before choosing the arrangement.
What do we agree before the gate is made?
The opening dimensions, gate arrangement, design, construction and finish, alongside the automation and access-control requirements. The quotation sets out the agreed work so the gate and operating equipment can be planned together.
Can the design include a separate pedestrian gate?
Yes. We can consider a pedestrian gate alongside the driveway entrance. Its position, opening space and controls should allow people to enter without relying on the vehicle gate every time.
Will my existing gates need to be replaced for automation?
Not necessarily. We assess their condition, construction, movement, posts and hinges first. If they are unsuitable, we explain what needs to change before recommending automation or new gates.
What happens after installation?
We test the system and explain its operation at handover. Keep the operating and maintenance information available, and arrange professional servicing at least every six months. Repair support is also available for existing gates.
