Automated Gate, Barrier and Access Control FAQs
-
We're based in Southampton and cover Hampshire, including Southampton, Romsey, Winchester, Eastleigh, Totton, the New Forest and surrounding areas. If you're not sure whether we cover your location, get in touch and we'll let you know.
-
We work for homeowners, businesses and industrial sites. That includes private driveways, business premises, car parks, managed residential sites, yards, depots and factories.
-
We do both. We design and manufacture gates, and we install, automate, maintain and repair them. That means one company can look after your entrance from the first site visit onwards.
-
Yes. We install automated gates for homes, businesses and industrial sites across Hampshire. We'll discuss what you need, survey the site and recommend a system that suits the property, the level of security and how the entrance is used. New installations include a free site survey and quotation.
Every new installation is force tested before handover. At handover you get an operation and maintenance (O&M) manual, the force-test readings taken at commissioning, and an electrical certificate where we carried out the electrical work. We also leave a settings book in the control panel, so any engineer who works on the gate later can see how it's set up.
-
In many cases, yes. We'll inspect the existing gates, posts, hinges and surrounding area to see whether they're suitable for automation, and tell you if any alterations or other work are needed first.
-
Yes. We service and repair automated gates, gate motors, barriers and bollards installed by other companies. We'll inspect the system, find the fault and explain the repair options. Our call-out fees are fixed, and we'll quote for the repair once we've assessed it on site, before carrying out any extra work.
-
We recommend having automated gates serviced professionally at least every six months. Gates that are used a lot, or that are at business or industrial premises, may need servicing more often. We'll recommend a schedule once we've seen your system and how it's used.
-
A service includes checking the gate's operation, the automation equipment, moving parts, safety devices and general condition, including any keypad and GSM access control. We also force test the gate to check it's within safe limits. Afterwards you get paperwork and a written report covering any defects, anything needed to meet legal standards, and worn parts likely to need replacing soon.
-
Yes. We offer planned maintenance for businesses, industrial sites, managing agents and homeowners who want their gates and automated equipment checked regularly. Every contract is tailored to the site and quoted individually, with visits every six months or once a year depending on how much the equipment is used. We still recommend that gates are serviced at least every six months, and more often if they're used a lot.
-
Yes. We supply and install barriers and bollards for car parks, yards, private roads and other sites where vehicle access needs to be controlled. Tell us about your site and we'll recommend suitable options.
-
Our normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm. Out-of-hours emergency call-outs are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Extra charges apply outside normal hours.
Our call-out fees are fixed, and we'll confirm the fee when you call. Our engineers carry a selection of common parts. If a gate can't be fully repaired straight away, we can open a gate that's stuck shut, or close one that's stuck open so your property is secure.
-
We install keypads, intercoms, remote controls, fobs, GSM systems and smart connected entry. We'll help you choose the most suitable system for your property, the level of security you need and how you use your gates.
-
Automated gates must operate safely, and each installation needs safety measures that suit it. We assess every site and advise on suitable safety devices, such as photocells and safety edges, and we carry out a written risk assessment. We also force test gates on every safety check, installation and service.
-
