Why buy your gate motor from an installer
A gate motor is only as good as its match to the gate. Size, weight, the way the gate hangs and how often it's used all decide which motor will drive it smoothly for years. Because we supply and fit, we choose the motor after looking at your gate in person, not from a catalogue. You get one company responsible for the motor, the control panel, the safety devices and the commissioning.
Gate motors we supply and fit
- Swing gate motors: ram-style motors, arm motors for deep piers and underground motors hidden beneath the gate. On double gates we fit one motor per gate.
- Sliding gate motors: geared motors that drive the gate along its track using a rack.
- Cantilever gate motors: for gates carried on rollers with no ground track, ideal for gravel and industrial yards.
- Barrier motors: for car parks, private roads and commercial entrances.
Control panels and safety devices
Every motor runs from a control panel that sets its speed, force and how it reacts to commands and obstacles.
Every motor we fit is paired with the right safety devices. Photocells are non-contact: they send a beam across the opening and stop or reverse the gate if something breaks it. Safety edges are contact devices fitted to the gate's leading or closing edges: they stop or reverse the gate if it touches something. Most gates use both. We force test every gate at commissioning so the forces it can exert are measured and recorded, in line with our duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Commissioning and handover
When the job is finished you get the paperwork to go with it: an electrical certificate where we carried out the electrics, an operation and maintenance (O&M) manual, the force-test readouts and a settings book kept in the control panel.
Automated gates should be serviced at least every six months, and we can arrange that for you. Out-of-hours emergency call-outs are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Extra charges apply outside normal hours.
Replacing or upgrading an existing gate motor
If your gate already has a motor that's worn out, underpowered or no longer reliable, we can replace or upgrade it. We check the gate, hinges and posts first, so the new motor isn't fighting a gate that needs attention.

Do you supply gate motors without fitting them? We supply motors as part of a fitted installation, so each one is matched to the gate and tested properly before handover.
Which gate motor do I need? It depends on your gate's size, weight, type and how often it's used. We'll recommend the right motor at your free site survey.
Do double gates need two motors? Yes. We fit one motor per gate on double gates.
How often should a gate motor be serviced? At least every six months. Regular servicing includes force testing and checks on the safety devices.
