Gates, Barriers and Access Control in Boscombe

Boscombe is one of Bournemouth's busiest neighbourhoods. Many of the big Victorian and Edwardian villas between Christchurch Road and the clifftop have been split into flats, and newer apartment blocks sit around Boscombe Pier and the Chine. That means a lot of shared entrances, rear courtyards and small residents' car parks, and that is where most of our Boscombe work is. For the wider town, see our Bournemouth gates page.

Gates and barriers for converted villas and apartment blocks

When one house becomes six or eight flats, the gate stops being one family's gate and becomes shared equipment. We fit sliding and swing gates to courtyard entrances, rising arm barriers and bollards to small car parks, and access control that suits a building full of different people: fobs that can be cancelled when a tenant moves out, keypads, and GSM intercoms that ring each flat's mobile. Every installation is fully risk assessed before handover, including force testing.

Rear lanes, bin stores and side gates

Plenty of Boscombe properties are reached from a narrow rear lane or a shared side passage. Space is tight, so sliding gates or compact swing motors usually work better than wide double gates. We look at the lane width, the slope and how bins and bikes get in and out at a free site survey.

Shops and businesses on Christchurch Road

For shops, cafés and offices along Christchurch Road and around the Royal Arcade, we fit gates and barriers to service yards and staff parking at the back. See commercial and industrial gates.

Gate repairs and servicing

We repair gates, barriers and automation installed by anyone, including older systems in shared blocks that nobody quite owns. Salt air from the seafront wears on hinges, motors and barrier arms, so we recommend servicing at least every six months. A 24/7 emergency call-out is available if a gate fails shut or open.

We're a Gate Safe Aware Installer and are working towards Constructionline Gold. See our accreditations.

Gate health checks for managing agents

A gate health check costs £199 for the first gate plus £99 for each extra gate. Double gates count as one gate, and the check also covers barriers, bollards, handsets and intercoms. You get force testing and a written report you can keep on file for the building. Not sure what you've got? WhatsApp photos or a short video to 07890 387915 and we'll take a look.

Boscombe FAQs

Can you look after the gate on our block of flats?

Yes. We service and repair shared gates and barriers whoever installed them, and a gate health check gives the managing agent or residents' association a written report.

Our courtyard is narrow. Will an electric gate fit?

Often, yes. Sliding gates and compact swing motors suit tight entrances. We check the space at a free site survey.

Can each flat have its own access?

Yes. Fobs, keypad codes and GSM intercoms can be set up per flat and changed when residents move.
