Electric Gates for Winchester's Period Homes
Winchester has a character all of its own: Georgian townhouses, flint and brick cottages, walled gardens and older houses in conservation areas. A gate here needs to look right first and work quietly second. We design, install and look after automated gates that respect the building they stand in front of.
Gates that suit older properties
Off-the-shelf gates rarely do justice to a period house. We design and manufacture gates to suit the style, proportions and materials of your property, whether that's traditional timber or decorative metalwork. Swing gates are the classic choice; a sliding gate can work where space inside the entrance is tight.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
If your home is listed or in a conservation area, there may be planning or consent requirements for new gates or changes to an entrance. We'll talk through the design with you at the survey so you can raise it with the local planning department before work starts. We can also automate suitable existing gates, keeping the original look.
Discreet automation and access
Motors, keypads and intercoms can be positioned to stay out of sight as far as possible. A GSM intercom lets you answer the gate from your phone, with no need for long cable runs through old walls or gardens. Every installation is force tested before handover.
Repairs, servicing and safety checks
We repair gates fitted by other companies as well as our own, quoting after an on-site assessment. We recommend servicing at least every six months. Every service and gate health check includes force testing, with a written report and paperwork afterwards. 24-hour call-outs are available. We're a Gate Safe Aware Installer – see our accreditations.
Businesses and shared car parks
We also fit gates, barriers and bollards for commercial premises and shared car parks around the city. See our services.
